‘2021 Sporting season a success’ says OYDC CEO Dr Chitangala
Just a few weeks before the 2021 Teulings Youth Sports Challenge grand finale OYDC Chief Executive Officer Dr Fredrick Chitangala has described the sporting season for the year as successful.
Dr Chitangala says despite the Centre suspending some activities due to the Covid-19 at some point, the centre has managed to successfully conduct all its annual sports activities.
He says preparations for this year’s Teulings grand finale are progressing well, adding that it will not only be young sportspersons who will get rewarded but the media aswell.
He has further paid gratitude to sports federations who seconded coaches to the Centre to tutor athletes who train from the facility. Dr Chitangala was addressing the media on 13 November 2021 shortly after touring some activities which were hosted in rugby, netball, handball, boxing and taekwondo. The grand finale is set for 4 December, where top outstanding players will walk away with trophies and medals.
The Teulings/OYDC Youth Sports Challenge is a youthful competition engaging talented young people below the age of 17 years.
The competition has been running at the OYDC since 2011 and is supported by Coen Teulings Chairman of the Merifin Capital in Belgium.
The competition has seen a number of athletes from different sporting disciplines being picked to play for national teams and local clubs.
