2022 TEULINGS NETBALL CHAMPIONS OLYMPAFRICA KICK OFF THE SEASON ON A POOR NOTE

2022 Teulings netball champions Olympafrica kicked off the 2023 league on a poor note by losing league points for failing to play their opponents’ team OYDC Zambia.

The U17 games played at the OYDC Zambia saw players from Olympafrica refuse to face energetic girls from OYDC Zambia and prompted the refereeing team to award OYDC Zambia a 10-0 walkover.

Teulings netball coach for OYDC Zambia Felistus Chilinda wondered why team Olympafrica failed to face their opponents despite being champions of the 2022 Teulings Youth Sports Challenge.

And Chilinda has disclosed that coaches in the Tuelings Youth Sports Challenge have a strategy for the year 2023 to expose players to community leagues so that they can further stand a chance to be selected for national teams and clubs.

She says other games played on Saturday 22 April 2023 went on very well with Chipata beating Shinning Light 17-11 while Mbombela beat Kabana Swift 12-7.

She added that through the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge, one girl has been confirmed to join the Lusaka City Council team and a letter of confirmation will be received from the council team so that the girl can be transferred.

‘We kicked off our season on a good note. Most of the players showed up for the games despite Olympafrica losing on a walkover to OYDC Zambia. We aim to expose these players to more community leagues so that they can enjoy getting selected to national teams and other local clubs’ she said.

Meanwhile, other Teulings games the OYDC Zambia organised include football and handball where several teams competed.
