OYDC Zambia Played Host to the British High Commissioner, Her Excellency Rebecca Terzeon, and the National Olympic Committee and Commonwealth Games Association of Zambia Ahead of 2025 Commonwealth Day Celebration

OYDC Zambia played host to the British High Commissioner to Zambia, Her Excellency Rebecca Terzeon, ahead of the Commonwealth Day celebrations. The visit highlighted OYDC Zambia’s role as a premier sports development hub and reinforced its commitment to youth empowerment through sports.
During the visit, Her Excellency Rebecca Terzeon toured the facility, interacted with athletes. High Commissioner applauded the Committee for its efforts and reaffirmed the British government’s continued support for sports development in Zambia.

She commended the initiatives undertaken by the NOC/CGA and emphasized the importance of sports in fostering unity and development, aligning with the Commonwealth’s values. To conclude her visit, she planted a tree at the sports facility, leading the way in protecting the environment through sport.
A speech was delivered on behalf of the National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) President, Mr. Alfred Foloko, by the NOCZ Secretary General Mr. Boniface kambikambi recognizing OYDC Zambia’s contributions to sports excellence and development. The message reaffirmed the commitment to strengthening international collaborations that enhance sports infrastructure and provide greater opportunities for young athletes.

OYDC Zambia acting CEO Mr. Benjamin Tembo expressed appreciation for the visit and acknowledged the ongoing support from the British High Commission and the Commonwealth in advancing grassroots sports initiatives. Discussions also centered on future partnerships to enhance sports education, mentorship programs, and capacity-building efforts at the center.
