Muziyo, knocks out Malawian boxer

Zambian boxer Benny Muziyo on Saturday 17th March, 2018 flogged Malawian boxer Elias Kassim through a technical knockout in 10 seconds during the international friendly boxing tournament organised by the Zambia Boxing Federation (ZBF) and staged at the Olympic Youth Development Centre (OYDC). Boxing coach Mudenda happy with pugilists

Boxing National team coach Wisdom Mudenda, has expressed confidence that his boxers will outclass Malawian boxers ahead of the “Zambia Malawi” boxing tournament to be staged at the Olympic Youth Development Centre (OYDC) on 17 March, 2018. Podium Performance Programme meeting attracts over 10 sports administrators

Over 10 sports administrators are attending the first Podium Performance Programme (PPP) planning meeting for the year 2018, which is taking place at the Olympic Youth Development Centre. The meeting whose theme is “Towards Tokyo 2020-Sustainable support to high performance athletes to achieve Podium Performance” has been organised by the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Child Development. Special Olympics Zambia delivers wheelchairs and food humpers

  In its quest to continue empowering and reaching out to the underprivileged as well as persons living with disabilities, Special Olympics Zambia (SOZ) on Monday 5th February, 2018 presented 6 wheelchairs and assorted food stuffs to athletes who are part of the organization. Masikana, the swimmer

His name is Tonderai Masikana, a swimmer for the Lusaka Sharks swimming club which trains from the Olympic Youth Development Centre. The young swimmer has continued to live his dream through sport. At the age of six, Masikana had started swimming and recording his personal best time during swimming competition. He started swimming in 2013 after being oriented in the Zamtel “Learn to Swim” programme at the OYDC. His love for swimming comes at a right time when Zambia wants to produce athletes [...]

Zambia Judo Association President Alfred Foloko, elected as new NOCZ president

Zambia Judo president Alfred Foloko, has been elected as the new National Olympic Committee of Zambia NOCZ president. The elective meeting took place in Ndola on Saturday afternoon. Hazel Kennedy has been elected as vice president while Boniface Kambikambi is the new secretary general. Handball Association of Zambia president Victor Banda is now the new treasurer. Guy Phiri, Lea Namukonda and Kakoma Nakaonga have been elected as NOCZ Executive members.

Special Olympics Zambia continues to inspire athletes with “Intellectual Disabilities”.

As the country prepares to commemorate the 2017 International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) whose theme is “Transforming towards Sustainable and Resilient Society for All”, Special Olympics Zambia (SOZ) will hold the “Unified Sports Day” at the Olympic Youth Development Centre (OYDC) on 2nd December, 2017.   The event will see 350 persons with and without intellectual disabilities ‘crowd’ the OYDC to participate in Unified football, Bocce, Fun and Movement Games, Shuttle relay and most importantly undergo health checks.   The First Lady [...]
