BNOC PRESIDENT PLANTS TWO TREES AT OYDC ZAMBIA AND NAMES THEM AFTER TWO OF BOTSWANA’S TOP ATHLETES
It was a blissful morning on Saturday 18 February 2023 when Botswana National Olympic Committee president Colonel Botsang Tshenyego planted two trees at the OYDC Zambia facilities to help fight climate change and preserve the environment.
The BNOC president after planting the trees named them after two successful sportspersons in his country Amantle Montsho a female athlete who specializes in the 400 metres race and Denzel Seetso a male tennis player.
Colonel Tshenyego expressed hope that the planted trees will greatly help restore nature adding that it is amazing to note that OYDC Zambia has had a project with WWF and other partners which saw the planting of over one thousand trees at the centre and some selected communities in the country.
He added that other NOCs from the region who will visit the OYDC Zambia should consider taking a similar step to plant more trees and see that nature is promoted through sports.
Meanwhile, OYDC Zambia Chief Executive Officer Dr Fredrick Chitangala paid gratitude to the BNOC president for visiting the sports facility and planting trees.
He said OYDC Zambia continues its quest to improve the environment adding that more trees will be planted and see that there is a clean green surrounding.
The tree planting ceremony was witnessed by National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) president Alfred Foloko, Zambia Judo General Secretary Mabvuto Ng’uni, and OYDC Zambia members of staff among others.
