U18 hockey team qualifies to semi-finals

U18 Zambia male hockey team has qualified to the semi-finals of the 2018 Youth Olympic Games being staged in Argentina, after beating the 2014 defending champions Australia 6-4. The team is scheduled to meet Malaysia on 13 October at 20:00 hours Zambian time. Team Coach Samuel Tagwireyi, is hopeful that the team will deliver according to his expectation tomorrow if they are to bring glory to Zambia by minting Gold.

2018 SUMMER YOUTH OLYMPIC GAMES UPDATE

Zambia’s 400m Gold medalist Kennedy Luchembe hits the track today at 16:15 hours Zambian time. Luchembe, served as the country’s flag bearer during the official opening ceremony of the 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In the female category the African Bronze medalist Niddy Minglishi (athletics), will also compete today in the 400m. Zambia records first medal

Bunty Howard (Equestrian), gets bronze medal in the jump international team event in the second round of the competition finishing the jumps with a time of 78.90 to help team Africa come out 3rd at the ongoing 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games being staged in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Countries that made up her team include; Mauritius, Egypt, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Zambia. Ten teams participate in Teulings hockey league

Ten teams on Saturday took part in the U15 Teulings Hockey League games which took place at the Olympic Youth Development Centre. Bright Boys, Ark Boys, Evergreen, ShiningStars1, Black Stars, Black Boys, City, Shinning 1, are some of the teams that played the weekend “7aside” Teulings games. All the teams were selected from communities surrounding the Olympic Youth Development Centre. OYDC hosts ZAVA schools tournament

The Olympic Youth Development Centre (OYDC) is hosting 24 schools which are taking part in the Zambia Volleyball Association (ZAVA) schools tournament. The tournament runs from 6th to 7th September, 2018. Most of the schools participating in this tourney have been drawn from the ten provinces. Over 200 children and 30 teachers are all camped at the OYDC Lodge.

Lusaka Sharks gets swimming caps

Amelia Fletcher, a student at St Andrews University in Scotland has donated 20 swimming caps to Lusaka Sharks Swimming team which trains from the Olympic Youth Development Centre. Fletcher, who is part of the Wallace Group, says she decided to make the donation to the swimming team stating she was happy to see young people at the OYDC showcasing their skills which need to be supported by all. U20 & U17 Handball teams training at OYDC

The male U20 & U17 are currently training at the Olympic Youth Development Centre (OYDC) in preparation of the Africa Nations Cup to be hosted in Morocco from 7 to 14 September 2018. Zambia successfully hosted the 2018 Africa Netball Championship from 13 to 18 August at the Olympic Youth Development Centre (OYDC). The tournament was organised by the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Child Development, International Netball Federation and the Netball Association of Zambia. The tournament was supported by different partners among them Zamtel, Trade Kings, Cavmont Bank, ZESCO, ZNBC, NSCZ, HIGER, Zambian Breweries, and many others. The Olympic Youth Development Centre (OYDC) will from 13th to 18th August, 2018 host the Africa Netball Championship.
