2019 Teulings Youth Sport Challenge kicks off

The 2019 Teulings Youth Sports Challenge kicked off on Saturday 30th March, with over 600 athletes taking part in the league games. Centre Director Dr. Fredrick Chitangala, disclosed that this year’s Teulings Youth Sports Challenge has seen an increase in the number of young girls being part of the games. Zambia to host 2019 Africa Weightlifting Championship

The Olympic Youth Development Centre (OYDC) will play host to this year’s Africa Weightlifting Championship slated for 5th to 9th September, 2019. Weightlifting Federation Africa (WFA) Vice President Dr. Kevin Duplooy, announced during a media briefing held at the OYDC, that the competition will attract 15 African countries and further stating that the Championship will be used as qualifiers to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Zambia beats South Africa in handball tourney

Zambia has recorded a win in the opening match of the “2019 All Africa Games Handball Qualifiers” taking place at the #OYDC. The male handball team beat South Africa 26-20. Despite the game being tough team Zambia kept on scoring to impress spectators who had turned up in numbers to watch the game. Zambia, South Africa and Zimbabwe are the countries taking part.

MERIFIN CAPITAL SIGNS US$ 200, 000 SPONSORSHIP DEAL WITH OYDC

The Merifin Capital in Belgium has signed a US$ 200, 000 sponsorship extension deal with the OYDC to fund the “Teulings Youth Sports Challenge” for the next two years which will resume on the 23rd February, 2019. The Teulings Youth Sports Challenge was initiated in 2011 with competition in Basketball, Football, Tennis, Hockey, Volleyball and support academy sport. Simon Zulu crowned 2018 best judoka of the year Zambia

Gold medalist judoka, Simon Zulu, who trains from the OYDC was on Friday 18th January, 2019 crowned as the “2018 Best Judoka of the Year” during the Zambia Police Service Annual Sports Awards. Zulu, who is a Podium Performance Programme (PPP) athlete thanked his coach Francis Limipile, Zambia Judo, for having supported him during the year 2018. MUZA football team happy with OYDC pitch

The football team from Mazabuka, Southern Province came to the OYDC on Tuesday for training. Mestro United Zambia (MUZA) Football Team manager disclosed that his players were amused with the facility environment. He added that such facilities like the OYDC must be well supported and maintenance so that athletes from different sports disciplines can continue to identify their talents in sport.
