Dreams Members Celebrate Graduation in Style

Latkings, on Monday 25th September held its 2017 DREAMS (Determined, Resilient, Empowered, AIDS-free, Mentored, Safe) project graduation at the Olympic Youth Development Centre. The project was aimed at reducing HIV/AIDS infections among adolescent girls between the age of 18 and 24 years. Those who participated are girls from different schools around Lusaka through different sports activities

Photo Focus: Beach Volleyball players

Photo Focus: Beach Volleyball players are camped at the Olympic Youth Development Centre (OYDC) to prepare for the upcoming games. Beach Volleyball Coach Isaac Tembo, says his mission is to at least make four Zambian athletes to compete at regional and international games. He says the beach volleyball court at the OYDC is making the athletes acquire the much needed skills in the sport.

Special Olympics Leadership academy

Special Olympics will on Tuesday the 12 September, 2017 unveil the First Lady of the Republic of Zambia, Esther Lungu, as the “50th Anniversary Ambassador” for the African Region. Special Olympics, an organisation which deals with children with intellectual disabilities is currently conducting a “Leadership Academy” which will come to a close on the 14th September, 2017. First Lady Esther Lungu donates to Special Olympics Athletes

First Lady Esther Lungu, on Saturday 3rd December, 2016 donated K15, 000 to the 150 children with intellectual disabilities who are part of the Special Olympics Zambia. Olympic Youth Development Centre (OYDC) Director Clement Chileshe, says he is optimistic that the Zambian athletes who have left the country to participate at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games in Brazil will bring honor and positive results to the nation. Congolese national wins 1st African Draughts-64 tourney

Zambian based Congolese draughts player, Richard Mwammba, was on Tuesday night crowned ‘International Draughts Grand Master’ after winning the first ever African Draughts-64 Championship held at the Olympic Youth Development Centre in Lusaka, Zambia. Mwammba, emerged winner after scoring 14 points after “Round 9” beating his closest rival Moses Winesi, from Malawi who scored 13 points leaving him astonished after the loss.
