U18 Zambia hockey team leaves for Algeria

The U18 Zambia male hockey team which was camped at the Olympic Youth Development Centre (OYDC) through the support of the National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) has left for Algiers, Algeria ahead of the African Youth Games slated for 18th to 28th July, 2018. OYDC donates “crutches”

The Olympic Youth Development Centre (OYDC) donated crutches to Danny Simangolwa of Chililabombwe Municipal Council. The crutches were received by her worship the mayor of Chililabombwe Municipal Council Mrs. Christabel Mulala. OYDC Director Dr. Fredrick Chitangala, presented the crutches to the mayor when she visited the multisport facility during the Zambia Local Authorities Sports Association (ZALASA) recently hosted at the Olympic Youth Development Centre. Netballers camped at OYDC

20 Netball players are currently camped at the Olympic Youth Development Centre (OYDC) ahead of the Africa Netball Championships to be held from 13 to 19 August, 2018. The championship will be hosted at the Olympic Youth Development Centre and will be used as World Cup qualifier.

Gosiewski an inspirational to many judokas in Zambia

The U18 male hockey team is camped at the Olympic Youth Development Centre (OYDC) in preparation for the qualifiers Youth Africa Games in Algeria. Team Coach Elvis Bwalya, says the camping at OYDC will make the boys prepare adequately for the games stating that he is hopeful that players will meet his expectations.

Olympic movement in Zambia commemorate “Olympic Day”

The Olympic movement in Zambia today joined the rest of the world in commemorating the 70th anniversary of “Olympic Day”. Youths commemorate day of an African child

Hundreds of youths who thronged the OYDC today were jubilant as they commemorated the National Day of the African Child. OYDC hosts Defence force day celebrations

The Ministry of Defence is celebrating the 42nd “Defence Force Day” being conducted at the Olympic Youth Development Centre. The theme for this year’s sports celebrations is “Promoting National Peace and Unity through Friendship in Sports”. The celebrations have seen Defence officers from Zambia Army, Zambia Air force and Zambia National Service compete in football, netball, tug of war, basketball and volleyball. Basketball players impress coach

Teulings Basketball coordinator Nicolas Phiri, is happy with the skills the boys and girls are acquiring out of the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge staged at the Olympic Youth Development Centre. Phiri, disclosed that today’s 3 v 3 basketball games saw Mapoloto, Breathe of Heaven, Warriors, Matero Magic and Leopards taking part. The Teulings Youth Sports Challenge is an ongoing league where athletes from communities surrounding the OYDC compete in basketball, tennis, beach volleyball and hockey.

Sports minister launches IJF “judo coaching practicals”

The minister of Youth, Sport and Child Development Moses Mawere, was at the Olympic Youth Development Centre (OYDC) on the 8th June, 2018 to officially open the International Judo Federation “Judo coaching course” organized by the Zambia Judo Association.
