‘Don’t lose focus’ OYDC CEO urges athletes
OYDC Zambia – Sports Development Centre Chief Executive Officer Dr Fredrick Chitangala has reiterated the need for athletes not to lose focus as the Teulings/OYDC Youth Sports Challenge enters the second week after resuming.
Dr Chitangala says the Centre has put in place measures to ensure that athletes are competing in a safe environment hence the need for them to stick to all health guidelines provided.
He says the response management is getting from teams participating in the Teulings/OYDC Youth Sports Challenge is encouraging adding that the Centre will catch up with the remaining games before the grand finale is hosted later in the year
.And one of the coaches for Taekwondo Patson Ngoma has shown appreciation to OYDC for resuming the youthful competition last week.
Ngoma says his players had missed being on the turf but OYDC has continued to provide a better environment for them to continue with training and competition.
Meanwhile, OYDC has given over 400 face masks to athletes who came to compete in rugby, netball, beach volleyball, taekwondo and handball on 28 August, 2021.
Before the games, athletes had the opportunity to attend educational sessions where they were being taught how to protect themselves from dangers of drug abuse in sport and Olympic values.
