Handball Association of Zambia unveils jersey for women’s team as they prepare for Guinea Games

Handball Association of Zambia (HAZ) has unveiled a new jersey for the women’s national team scheduled to travel to Conakry, Guinea for the Africa Junior Women Team Championship, slated between 17-27 February 2022.
The Championship will be used as qualifiers for the World Cup to be staged in Serbia in 2023.
Zambia’s women’s team has so far been drawn in Group A and will face Egypt, Angola and Bukinafso.
Unveiling the jersey on 16 January 2022 at OYDC Zambia – Sports Development Centre where the girls have been training from and witnessed by Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts permanent secretary Pastor Kangwa Chileshe, Association president Victor Banda said the girls are ready for the championship.
Banda disclosed that his association is confident that the girls will perform well in Guinea and be among the top four teams to qualify for the world cup.
And Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts permanent secretary Pastor Kangwa Chileshe said the New Dawn Government under the able leadership of His Excellency President Hakainde Hichilema treasures all types of sports disciplines in the country and assured the team and association of governments support to ensure that the girls qualify for the World Cup and bring glory to the nation.
The permanent secretary was however presented with a replica jersey and ball by team captain Lindiwe Ngwenya who is best known for her sizzling scoring skill on the pitch which leaves spectators in a state of jubilation.
Confederation of Africa Handball (CAHB) in 2021 postponed indefinitely the 28th Africa Junior Women Team Championship to allow for registration of more teams for the competitions, which serves as qualifiers for the World Championships in the two-age cadre as Africa has four slots each for the 2022 and 2024 World Women Junior and Youth Championships respectively.
