HOCKEY ASSOCIATION HOSTS PRESIDENT’S CUP AT OYDC ZAMBIA

The OYDC Zambia on Saturday 15 April 2023 hosted several hockey clubs that took part in the President’s Cup organised by Zambia Hockey Association.

The President’s Cup is the curtain raiser for the upcoming hockey league season and attracted four male and five female teams.

Zambia Hockey Association president Hazel Kennedy was at hand to witness the games and expressed happiness to see the teams battle it out on the playing field.

The men’s team Hotspurs retained their championship after thrashing their opponent Springfield 5-4 on penalties. The two teams had a tough encounter as they played to a one-all draw before proceeding to penalties to decide the winner.

In the women’s team, Lusaka Tigers excruciatingly beat D.E Stars 6-0 in the final to win the women’s category.

Zambia Hockey Association president Hazel Kennedy congratulated the two teams for their passion and dedication to win the 2023 cup and urged them to remain positive in other upcoming games not only locally but on an international level at large.
