It’s gymnastics at OYDC Zambia
OYDC Zambia – Sports Development Centre has added gymnastics as one of its over twenty sports disciplines.
Making this announcement on 21 May 2021 when the Embassy of Germany in Zambia presented gymnastics equipment to the Centre through Gymnastics Federation Zambia OYDC Zambia Chief Executive Officer Dr Fredrick Chitangala expressed gratitude for the gesture stating that the centre will work to nurture athletes who can be representing the nation both at local and international competitions.
Dr Chitangala added that OYDC currently runs one of the biggest youthful competition in the country the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge which has eleven sports disciplines and appealed to the corporate to take advantage of sponsoring new sports disciplines which the centre is introducing for the betterment of sports development.
Meanwhile, Gymnastics Federation Zambia president Dr Richard Salunoka, disclosed that the federation has identified athletes who has the zeal and passion for the sport.
He says the athletes have been coming to the centre to practice but lacked equipment to use. He thanked the Germany Embassy for having donated the equipment which he says will surely help improve their skills as the centre adds gymnastics as one of its sports disciplines.
And Germany Embassy in Zambia press officer Lisa Bolte, who handed over the equipment expressed happiness to see young boys and girls turn up to witness the ceremony.
She says her Embassy will work on ways to show support to athletes and the federation at large.
After the handover of equipment Gymnastics Federation of Zambia president Dr Richard Salunoka took the lead in showcasing the demonstration and was joined by athletes.
