“Make use of Teulings hockey players” ZHA General Secretary Bwalya urges coaches
Zambia Hockey Association General Secretary Elvis Bwalya has urged coaches tasked to select players for national teams ahead of the Central Southern ‘All Africa’ Games to consider utilizing athletes who play in the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge.
National team hockey players for both men and women will be starting preparations for the games which will be hosted by Zimbabwe between 30th August and 4th September 2022. Training will be done from OYDC Zambia – Sports Development Centre.
Bwalya after watching the Teulings league games on 25 June at the Centre said “There is a need to have some of these talented boys and girls to be part of the national teams of hockey. Their performances are inspiring always. Most of these athletes currently in the national teams are a product of the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge and we need more knowing these athletes are always training for free at OYDC”.
And Bwalya expressed hope that Zambia will qualify for the upcoming games to be staged in Zimbabwe where Countries like South Africa and Namibia the top contenders will be participating.
Over 200 hockey players representing different clubs took part in the Teulings games at the weekend. The teams include; Zambezi, Hotspurs, Springfields, Lusaka Sharks, Cimita and many others.
Meanwhile, other Teulings games which took place were in football where Garden Youth Academy continues to dominate the league.
