NOCZ president Alfred Foloko cheers students
National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) president Alfred Foloko has urged students aspiring to be sports heroes to remain focused and determined.
Speaking when he met students found at the OYDC Zambia – Sports Development Centre on Friday 25 March, Foloko expressed happiness that students from various universities are taking the sport very serious adding that his committee remains resolute through sports federations to identify talented athletes to represent Zambia at major competitions.
Foloko was accompanied by different representatives of local sports federations among them those from handball, equestrian, boxing, volleyball and badminton.
OYDC through Zambia Tennis Association (ZTA) is hosting the Climate Change Tennis Championship from 26-27 March 2022 which has attracted several universities and community players in the country.
ZTA president Gibson Phiri says the association is satisfied that the head of the Olympic movement in Zambia took the time to check on tennis players preparing for the games.
He adds that his visit will inspire all those taking part to work extra hard and perform well to reign supreme.
Meanwhile, OYDC Zambia Chief Executive Officer Dr Fredrick Chitangala appealed to other sports associations in the country to emulate Zambia Tennis Association to host their activities at the Centre. He said management will make facilities available for similar competitions at the multisports facility.
