OYDC CEO presents shoes to hockey player
The Teulings/OYDC Youth Sports Challenge resumed on 21 August 2021 at the OYDC with four sports disciplines.
Athletes from basketball, hockey, teqball and football turned up at the centre to compete with others under strict adherence to health guidelines.
The resuming of the games saw athletes express happiness that they were back in action as they prepare for the grand finale at the end of the year.
During the games OYDC Zambia Chief Executive Officer Dr Fredrick Chitangala, led management to tour some of the sport activities which were being hosted and encouraged the youths on the playing fields to continue with the passion they have for sport if they are to become professional sports heroes in future.
After the tour Dr Chitangala presented shoes to Anna Phiri, from Hotspurs Hockey club for her outstanding performance. Anna scored several goals for her club which elated the OYDC CEO.
And Phiri thanked Dr Chitangala for the gesture adding that this will motivate her fellow athletes to remain focused and perform well during competition.
The Teulings/OYDC Youth Sports Challenge is a youthful competition which has eleven sports disciplines and engages young talented athletes below the age of eighteen years. The competition has been running at the Centre since 2011 and has produced teams and athletes who have participated in the youth Olympic Games.
The competition is supported by Coen Teulings, Chairman of Merifin Capital in Belgium. The eleven sports disciplines under the Teulings/OYDC Youth Sports Challenge are; boxing, basketball, beach volleyball, football, taekwondo, judo, teqball, netball, handball, rugby and hockey.
