OYDC HANDBALL PLAYER HEADS TO PORTUGAL
OYDC Handball Club player Pritchard Siyakwayi has signed a six-month contract with Clube Desportivo “Os Marienses in Portugal.
Siyakwayi is expected to leave Zambia for Portugal on Friday at 15:00 CAT.
He is one of the many handball players from the OYDC Handball Club who has been part of the national team and has represented Zambia at several competitions as a right-back.
He met with OYDC Zambia Acting Chief Executive Officer Benjamin Tembo who wished him well as he embarked on his handball career in Portugal.
Tembo urged the player [Siyakwayi] to utilize the six months’ contract to showcase his skill so that he can have his contract extended.
Meanwhile, Siyakwayi has paid gratitude to OYDC Zambia which continues to provide facilities to many athletes for their training. He says the Centre should be supported so that more athletes can continue to benefit and explore opportunities to sign similar international contracts.
And OYDC Handball Club goalkeeper Richard Mulenga who is also Zambia’s number goalkeeper and Southern Region best goalkeeper has expressed happiness that Siyakwayi is heading to Portugal adding that he will represent the nation diligently. Mulenga who also serves as National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) Athletes Commission Chairperson and Board Member disclosed that the athlete is a key player and never disappoints.
