OYDC Zambia CEO becomes the 7th MEMOS graduate in Zambia
OYDC Zambia Chief Executive Officer Dr Fredrick Chitangala has become the 7th MEMOS graduate in Zambia after obtaining his MEMOS (Executive Masters in Sport Organisations Management).
The graduation ceremony took place Friday afternoon in Lausanne Switzerland.
His study focus was on the “Revenue Expansion Opportunities for the OYDC Zambia – Sports Development Centre” with research question; Among its stakeholders, current and former customers and surrounding business entities, are there business opportunities which OYDC could seize for possible Revenue Expansion.
He enrolled for MEMOS in September 2019 and finished a year later but the outbreak of the Covid-19 delayed both the implementation of recommendations and graduation.
However, a few recommendations already implemented have led to the following archivements;
a. OYDC income has risen by 24% while expenditure has reduced by 38%.
b. OYDC has recorded surpluses post-MEMOS (2019-2021) except for 2020 due to Covid-19.
c. Assets have increased by 9.4%.
d. Liabilities have reduced by 53%.
e. OYDC has recorded clean unqualified audit reports post MEMOS which makes the Centre hope to find partners who can help to rehabilitate facilities.
Other Zambians who have a MEMOS include; Special Olympics Zambia Board Chairperson Dr Clement Chileshe, Mwape Nshimbi from UNZA, Berry Lwando of Multichoice Talent Factory, Sombwa Musunsa of African Union Sports Council (Region 5), Zambia Hockey Association president Hazel Kennedy, Brenda Chipande former Executive Director of NOCZ.
MEMOS (Executive Masters in Sport Organisations Management) mission is to help professionals working in national or international sports bodies to develop the knowledge required in order to better manage their organizations. The degree was sponsored by the IOC through Olympic Solidarity and offered by The Université Catholique de Louvain of Belgium.
