OYDC Zambia donates 300 face masks
OYDC Zambia on Wednesday, 6th May, 2020, donated three hundred face masks to different sports associations and staff valued at K5000.
The sport associations which received the donation are Tennis (40 masks), Taekwondo (40 masks), Volleyball (30 masks), Table Tennis (40 masks), Disability Sport Federation Zambia (35 face masks) and the rest given to staff and members of the press who were present.
OYDC Zambia Board of Trustees Chairperson Simagolwa Shakalima, presented the items to the recipients and was joined by trustee member Wana Msiska and OYDC Zambia Chief Executive Officer Dr. Fredrick Chitangala.
In his remarks Shakalima, said the OYDC Zambia, values the health of athletes, coaches and sports administrators as the nation continues to battle the Covid-19 virus which has disturbed a number of sport activities not only in Zambia but globally. He said the donation was to show that the board and management of OYDC Zambia, see to it that athletes and coaches are protected from contracting the deadly virus once they get to have sufficient face masks.
And Trustee member Wana Msiska, who is also Tennis Association of Zambia president disclosed that OYDC Zambia, has not forgotten about athletes during this period when there are no activities at the facility stating that the Centre is considering other modalities to ensure that athletes remain in shape and fit for future competitions.
Meanwhile, OYDC Zambia Chief Executive Officer Dr. Fredrick Chitangala, said the donation will be extended to other sports associations adding that the gesture is in phases and urged those who did not receive to be patient as the centre works to collaborate with the corporate so that it can consider to donate not only face masks but hand sanitizers too.
The ceremony was witnessed by Taekwondo Association of Zambia president Likando Nangonde and other representatives of different sports associations among others.
