OYDC ZAMBIA ENGAGES STAKEHOLDERS

OYDC Zambia on Friday 20 September 2024 invited several stakeholders for a meeting to update them on the progress the centre continues to make where sport development is concerned.

OYDC Zambia Board Chairperson Simangolwa Shakalima reminded stakeholders that the centre was identified as the Centre of Excellence in the region by the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) stating that the OYDC Zambia has made great strides to revamp some of its worn out facilities.

Shakalima indicated that more is being done to ensure that other facilities are worked on hence the need to work with more stakeholders for the betterment of improving the state of facilities used by many athletes.

Guest of Honour Alfred Foloko who is the National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) called on attendees mainly from the sports fraternity to support OYDC by linking them with other international federations.

Foloko told the meeting that one of the key sponsors of the OYDC Zambia Coen Teulings Chairman of the Merifin Capital in Belgium who supports the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge is happy to note that the OYDC Zambia is reviving its swimming club working with the Zambia Swimming Union (ZASU) and further went on to announce that the OYDC Zambia is in talks with Zambia Athletics and other partners to ensure that the running track is replaced.

Among those who attended the stakeholder’s meeting organised by the OYDC Zambia include Zambia Athletics, Zambia Swimming Union, Zambia Hockey Association, Zambia Boxing Federation, Judo Association Zambia, Zambia Volleyball Association, Zambia Basketball Federation, Netball Zambia, Taekwondo Federation Zambia, Zambia Weightlifting Federation, Zambia Baseball and Softball Association, Badminton Zambia, National Sports Council of Zambia.

The Acting OYDC Zambia Chief Executive Officer Benjamin Tembo presented a detailed report to stakeholders highlighting updates done by the Centre Management.
