OYDC ZAMBIA SPONSOR COEN TEULINGS HEADS BACK HOME
OYDC Zambia Sponsor Coen Teulings, Chairman of Merifin Capital in Belgium has concluded his tour of duty in the country and returned home.
Teulings who has been sponsoring a youthful league game at OYDC Zambia dubbed Teulings Youth Sports Challenge since 2011 has left Zambia as a happy man knowing that what he saw during his tour of duty is exactly the original concept he signed 12 years ago.
He arrived in Zambia on 14 May 2023 in the company of his wife Pauline Krayenhoff.
While in Zambia and at the OYDC, he interacted with beneficiaries of his sponsorship, held meetings with national sports federations, and NOCZ/OYDC board members and paid a courtesy call on the minister of Youth, Sport and Arts Hon Elvis Nkandu MP.
Before leaving Coen Teulings and his wife were presented with assorted Zambian products and gifts as souvenirs.
To date, Coen Teulings has provided financial support amounting to over K20 million ($1,200,000) which goes towards the training and camping of athletes, accommodation, food, transport, administration and the hosting of the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge. The immense support to OYDC Zambia has seen several Zambian athletes who started from grassroots graduating to senior level.
In the last 12 years over 6,567 Teulings competitions have been conducted at OYDC Zambia with more than 10,000 athletes from various sports disciplines. This has also seen the creation of part-time employment for coaches who are employed to mentor and nurture the athletes at the Centre.
