Sports Minister Mulenga meets youngest Teulings umpire
Minister of Youth, Sport and Child Development Emmanuel Mulenga, met the youngest Teulings netball umpire Chanda Chishimba, at the OYDC Zambia – Sports Development Centre on Saturday 5th October, 2019.
The minister who was taken around the facilities of the OYDC Zambia, appreciated efforts being done in advancing sports development in the country through the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge which the OYDC Zambia – Sports Development Centre has continued to organize and engage young talented people.
As a way of appreciating Chishimba, the Chief Executive Officer of the OYDC Zambia, Dr. Fredrick Chitangala, presented to her sports kit and urged her to continue with her hard work in pursuit of sports excellence.
The OYDC Zambia, had organized three sports disciplines namely netball, hockey and beach volleyball under the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge.
A total of 350 athletes participated in different Teulings Youth Sports Challenge games staged at the OYDC Zambia.
Meanwhile, Faith Liteta a teacher at Chinese International School expressed happiness that her pupils were invited to come and take part in the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge and described their performance as impressive for first timers.
Liteta, says that her pupils will look forward for another invitation to come and be part of the games at OYDC Zambia.
And Ndimyake Kamwela who is the pupil at the same school says the games have been life changing and hoped to be more involved in such well-organized sporting activites by the OYDC Zambia.
The Teulings Youth Sports Challenge at the OYDC Zambia, has five sports disciplines netball, swimming, hockey, taekwondo and beach volleyball and are sponsored by Coen Teulings, Chairman of the Merifin Capital in Belgium.
