TEULINGS GAMES TAKE CENTRE STAGE
The weekend was busy at the OYDC Zambia as over 520 athletes thronged the sports facility to compete in the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge.
Athletes were competing in boxing, hockey, teqball, rugby and handball.
OYDC Zambia programmes officer Likemore Mahunje has disclosed that the centre will next month host the mid-year Teulings Youth Sports Challenge.
He says the zeal being exhibited by most athletes from several sports disciplines as part of the Teulings League games is not only inspiring but competitive to watch.
Mahunje adds that sports associations should watch out for many of these athletes being nurtured at the OYDC Zambia for their future selections to clubs and national teams.
The Teulings league games engage young talented athletes below the age of 17 years and the games are sponsored by Coen Teulings Chairman of Merifin Capital in Belgium. League games come to a close at the end of the year with a phenomenal grand finale being hosted where top deserving teams, clubs, athletes, umpires, coaches and sports administrators and media are rewarded with medals and trophies.
Meanwhile, before the games commenced all athletes were subjected to educative sessions in Olympic Values Education Programme (OVEP) and child, alcohol and other harmful substances conducted by OYDC Zambia non-sports programmes officer Richard Mulenga and Inspector Michael Kasanda from Zambia Police Child Protection Unit respectively.
