Teulings Youth Sports Challenge takes center stage
OYDC continues to play host of the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge which on Saturday 13 July, 2019 hosted netball, taekwondo and beach volleyball.
The Teulings Youth Sports Challenge has become a household name as facility users turned up in numbers to come and witness young talented athletes compete to top the log standing.
Teulings beach volleyball coordinator Isaac Tembo, disclosed that OYDC was the first organization in Zambia to introduce beach volleyball under the Teuilings league games stating that some of the athletes who compete in the youthful league have gone as far as competing for the nation outside the country.
Tembo, added that the sport needs more support such as that of Coen Teulings, Chairman of the Merifin Capital in Belgium who has continued to provide support to the OYDC to host games in beach volleyball, swimming, taekwondo, hockey and netball. This year’s Teulings league games will come to a close sometime in October and a colorful grand finale will be hosted and deserving athletes, coaches, teams, and umpires will be rewarded with trophies and medals.
Meanwhile, OYDC Progrommes Officer Mellisa Majonga, is happy that the Teulings games are getting momentum every weekend saying on Saturday over 300 athletes participated in the three sports disciplines; netball, beach volleyball and taekwondo.
She has called on parents to consider registering their children for the OYDC academies so that in future they can start taking part in well organized competitions such as the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge which OYDC has been hosting since 2011 and contributed athletes to different national teams.
