U16 ZAMBIAN BASKETBALL PLAYERS QUALIFY FOR THE AFROBASKET
THE U16 boys and girls basketball players who have competed in the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge at the OYDC Zambia have qualified for the Afrobasket Championships to be held in Tunisia.
According to information obtained by our media team the boys and girls teams qualified for the championships via a ‘wild card’ entry on the premise of their silver medal performance at the qualifying tournament in Lilongwe, Malawi in 2022 during the African Union Sports Council (AUSC) Region 5 games.
Zone VI – FIBA Africa President Media Commission Mwembe Kaona says the junior Afrobasket will be held in Tunisia from 13 to 23 July 2023 and has named Tunisia, Egypt, Mali, Algeria, Chad, Angola, Zambia, as some of the countries which have qualified for the championships.
Sheila Mbulo, Katongo Chaibela, Sepo Phiri, Jent Makabakano, Patrick Chimanga, Mathews Musole, and Francis Mutale as some of the players who will make up the junior team Zambia and have also participated in the developmental Teulings games at the OYDC Zambia.
