Zambia U20 handball team Technical Director Chilekwa Bwalya has described the team’s 32-26 loss to Burkina Faso yesterday at the ongoing Africa Junior Women team Championship in Conakry, Guinea as painful.
Bwalya says despite his team having control of the ball in the first half it was sad to see them lose the game.
He says the technical bench has taken note of the mistakes exhibited in yesterday’s game as they prepare to face Algeria on Thursday 24 February 2022.
“Yesterday’s loss was painful coz we had control of the first half but lack of experience of our girls cost us a lot but we have put that loss behind looking forward to our next game tomorrow against Algeria. We have noted our mistakes which we are working on as technical beach before our game tomorrow” Bwalya said.
Bwalya thanks all supporters of the team back home and the Ministry of Youth, Sport & Arts, OYDC Zambia – Sports Development Centre for accommodating the girls while training at the facility and others who made sure that U20 girls participate at the prestigious Championship.
Team Zambia was placed in Group A together with Angola, Egypt, and Burkina Faso and has since lost all the games. The Championship is being used as qualifiers for the World Cup to be held in Serbia 2023.
