Young athletes screened

OYDC Zambia – Sports Development Centre on Saturday 2 April 2022 conducted health screening on athletes who came to participate in the Teulings/OYDC Youth Sports Challenge.

The athletes were being screened for nose, throat and ear with those with urgent medical attention being referred to nearby health facilities.

OYDC Zambia programmes officer Likemore Mahunje, says about 200 athletes from different community teams and schools were screened before competition.

He adds that the Centre during the Teulings/OYDC league games invites health specialists to examine athletes and make sure that there are in good health.The sports activities conducted were in boxing and football with all athletes being below the age of fifteen.

Meanwhile, OYDC programmes officer Likemore Mahunje says a number of people are seeing the importance of sport by turning up in numbers to watch boxing and football.

He says it is through such activities that a lot of young boys and girls become responsible persons in society by getting engaged in different sporting activities which the centre hosts.
