Young swimmers gets the ball rolling
Young swimmers on Saturday were at the OYDC to participate in the 2019 Teulings Swim Challenge which attracted over 60 swimmers from three clubs namely Lusaka Sharks, Kalene and Chudleigh.
Some of the swimmers who were outstanding and outclassed their opponents include; Victoria Chola of Lusaka Sharks, who came out first in heat1 100m Girls Breaststroke with a time of 1:59.52 defeating her club mates she was placed with. In another girls event heat 1 50m backstroke, Victoria Chola, who got the time of 54.28 was defeated by Mildred Katwamba, whose time was 51.77.
In the boys events heat2 50m backstroke Tonderai Mazikana, of Chudleigh clocked 50.67 defeating his closest rival Chimwemwe Zimba of Kalene whose time was 55.33.
The young swimmers were competing in the 25m Freestyle, 25m Back Stroke, 100m Breast Stroke, 50m Breast Stroke, 50m Butterfly and the 4x50m freestyle relay.
OYDC Programmes Officer Mellissa Majonga, expressed happiness at the number of swimmers who put up impressive performances at the weekend. She mentioned George Mwaba (Churdleigh), Joseph Tolosi (Kalene), Evans Chikonde (Kalene) and Chipili Mutono (Churdlleigh) as some of the swimmers who outclassed other swimmers.
