President Lungu launches 2018 national health week
The Olympic Youth Development Centre (OYDC) on 8th May, 2018 hosted His Excellency President Edgar Lungu who came to launch the 2018 National Health Week organized by the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Child Development (MYSCD) under the theme “Health for All, Leaving No One Behind.”
The President participated in sport and health activities which included; Football, Tag of War, 100m Relay and Aerobics. He also toured stands for exhibitors and interacted with them as they explained some of the services they provide.
President Lungu who was accompanied by First lady Esther Lungu, Minister of Health Dr. Chitalu Chilufya, Youth, Sport and Child Development Minister Moses Mawere, Cabinet Ministers, Permanent Secretaries and State House officials, said people should practice a healthy lifestyle by participating in different physical fitness programs and take advantage of opportunities like the National Health Week to get themselves screened by professional medical staff.
Others who attended the launch include; World Health Organization (WHO), AHF, NOWSPAR, Special Olympics Zambia and CIDRZ representatives among others.
The National Health week which started on Monday 7th May 2018 will run up to Saturday 12th May 2018. Members of the public are urged to turn up in numbers and take part in different fitness and health activities at the OYDC from 08:00hrs to 17:00hrs.
