Italian School of Zambia makes its debut in the Teulings Swim Challenge
The Italian School of Lusaka on Saturday, 14 September, 2019 made its debut in the Teulings Swim Challenge which the OYDC Zambia – Sports Development Centre organized.
The school entered over 30 swimmers who took part in different swimming events which include breaststroke, freestyle, butterfly and relays.
Italian School of Lusaka, Head of Department Physical Education, Victoria Kumwenda, expressed happiness that the OYDC Zambia, extended an invitation to have swimmers from her school compete with other young talented athletes a move which she says will help many swimmers improve on their times.
Kumwenda, added that her school will continue to take part in the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge stating that it is a good initiative that provides opportunities to young athletes in the country who in future can be able to bring medals for Zambia.
Meanwhile, swimmer Hala El-Rahi, who is a pupil at Italian School says participating in the Teulings Swim Challenge was a good experience and will encourage her fellow swimmers to put in their level best to perfect swimming skills when taking part in similar competitions.
The Teulings Swim Challenge attracted over 60 swimmers from Kalene, Lusaka Sharks and Italian School of Lusaka.
The swimmers expressed eagerness to reach the grand finale slated for November, 2019 were top outstanding athletes will be crowned with trophies and medals.
The Teulings Youth Sports Challenge, engages athletes below the age of 17 in five sports disciplines namely netball, swimming, taekwondo, hockey and beach volleyball and are sponsored by Coen Teulings, Chairman of the Merifin Capital in Belgium.
