OYDC Zambia set to host the 9th Teulings Youth Sports Challenge Grand Finale
OYDC Zambia – Sports Development Centre will on Saturday, 2nd November, 2019 host the 9th edition of the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge. The Teulings Youth Sports Challenge which engages athletes below the age of seventeen involves competition in five sports disciplines which include hockey, beach volleyball, taekwondo, swimming and netball and is supported by Coen Teulings, Chairman of the Merifin Capital in Belgium.
OYDC Zambia Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Fredrick Chitangala, has announced that the Minister of Youth, Sport and Child Development, Hon. Emmanuel Mulenga, will grace this year’s Grand Finale. He further adds that Teulings’ representative, Hans Bertels, will be present to witness the event where the best athletes and officials will be awarded for their outstanding performances during the year 2019. Others who will be present include OYDC Zambia Board of Trustees Chairperson, Simangolwa Shakalima, National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) President, Alfred Foloko, International Olympic Committee (IOC) Head of Sport for Hope, Barbara Schweizer, and representatives of different sports associations.
About 700 young talented athletes who took part in the 2019 Teulings Youth Sports Challenge will be in attendance of which top deserving teams and athletes will go back home with trophies and medals.
Furthermore, Dr. Chitangala, says during the Grand Finale, OYDC Zambia, will award deserving media houses and personnel who have been writing articles about the OYDC Zambia, and entered for the awards which were recently launched. He has urged all those who have not submitted their entries to consider doing so stating that deadline for submissions is 30th October, 2019.
Dr. Chitangala has further disclosed that on the same day, 2nd November, 2019, the Minister of Youth, Sport and Child Development will unveil a new name and logo of the multisport facility as it ceases to be called “Olympic Youth Development Centre”.
