Sydney Siame shares his sports career with aspiring Olympians
Zambia’s finest sprinter Sydney Siame, who is the 2019 200m All Africa Games Champion and 2014 Youth Olympic Game, gold medalist on Saturday, 15 February, 2020 joined the over 500 young athletes who had thronged the OYDC Zambia – Sports Development Centre to listen to his motivation talk.
Siame, who has multiple medals to his name expressed happiness that the OYDC Zambia through the support of PEFPAR had organized a “Champions Talk” where he was invited to share his sports career and motivate those who wanted to be like him in future.
Siame, said he started athletics at a tender age and it is through discipline and consistency that he has managed to maintain his skill by avoiding bad vices that could ruin his sports career.
He urged them to be focused with training and competition and avoid vices that could make them contract HIV at a tender age and shutter their career in sport.
The talk was witnessed by the OYDC Zambia, Chief Executive Officer Dr. Fredrick Chitangala and Taekwondo Association of Zambia president Likando Nangonde.
The Champions Talk is usually organized by OYDC Zambia and different role models are usually invited to motivate young aspiring athletes who have the zeal to mint medals in future.
OYDC Zambia, targets to reach out to over 100, 000 beneficiaries using sport as a tool for HIV prevention at the end of 2020 when the project will come to a close.
The President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) small grants program on HIV prevention supported by the US Government through the US Embassy in Zambia, will help OYDC Zambia projects to mitigate the spread of HIV.
