ZAMBIAN ATHLETE MUZALA SAMUNKONGA RECEIVES A TWO-BEDROOMED HOUSE WORTH OVER K800, 000 PLUS MONEY

It was an emotional and exhilarating Thursday for Zambian athlete Muzala Samukonga who minted a gold medal at the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games in England after he was given a two-bedroomed house worth over K800, 000 for his outstanding performance at the games and bringing glory to the nation.

Muzala and other athletes Patrick Chinyemba and Stephen Zimba who minted medals at the Commonwealth Games received monies from different corporate entities who attended the Presidential Luncheon in Honour of the victorious Copper Queens football team and the 2022 Commonwealth Games medallists held at State House.

The luncheon was hosted by Republican President Mr Hakainde Hichilema who implored athletes to maintain a high level of discipline as they continue to excel in their various sports disciplines.

And Youth, Sport and Arts Minister Hon. Elvis Nkandu disclosed that government through his Ministry will continue to support all sports disciplines in the country and urged athletes to focus on training and winning medals for the nation at different competitions if they are to be rewarded like their friends.

Meanwhile, National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) president Alfred Foloko thanked the government and President Hichilema for supporting Team Zambia at the recent games stating that his love for athletes motivated them to work hard on the field of play.

During the luncheon it was also announced that Zambia will be hosting the U20 athletics Championship which elated Foloko and said that facilities such as the OYDC Zambia will be worked on to ensure that such a competition is well hosted in the country.

Foloko was joined by NOCZ Board Members Rodrick Njobvu, Mutale Masala, Dickson Jere, NOCZ Tresurer Victor Banda, and OYDC Zambia CEO Dr Fredrick Chitangala, ZA president Elias Mpondela, FAZ president Andrew Kamanga, Zambia Boxing president Dan Chiteule, among others.

Foloko led members of the Olympic movement in Zambia and athletes who were presenting medals to President Hakainde Hichilema at State House earlier in the day during the luncheon the president hosted for the athletes.
