OYDC Zambia Joins Zambia in Welcoming the AUSC Region 5 Torch

OYDC Zambia joined athletes, sports administrators, associations, partners and stakeholders at Heroes Stadium in Lusaka to welcome the AUSC Region 5 Torch Relay, marking an important milestone on the road to the 2026 AUSC Region 5 Youth Games in Maputo, Mozambique.

The torch arrived in Zambia on 5 October 2026 as it continues its journey through participating countries ahead of the Games, scheduled for 4–13 December 2026.

The colourful ceremony brought together the sporting community as the symbolic torch was received from the Mozambican delegation and passed on to Zambian athletes and sports leadership.

For OYDC Zambia, the occasion was a celebration of the power of sport to unite young people, build friendships and create opportunities for athletes to showcase their talent on the regional stage.

The Region 5 Youth Games will provide young athletes with an important platform to compete, gain valuable experience and embrace the core values of respect, friendship and excellence.

OYDC Zambia remains committed to supporting the development of young people through sport and creating opportunities that contribute to the growth of athletes and sporting talent.
