Pickleball Takes Root at OYDC Zambia as Young Athletes Receive Training from USA Coaches

Pickleball is gaining momentum in Zambia as OYDC Zambia Sports Development Centre continues to provide young athletes with an opportunity to learn and develop skills in the fast-growing sport.
A pickleball training programme currently underway at OYDC Zambia is bringing together young athletes who are being introduced to the fundamentals of the sport under the guidance of experienced coaches from the United States of America through Surgicorps International.
The training is designed to give participants practical knowledge and skills in pickleball while creating an environment where young athletes can develop an interest and passion for the sport.

The initiative goes beyond simply teaching the technical aspects of pickleball. It is aimed at reaching more young people and creating a new generation of athletes who can eventually take ownership and responsibility for the development of pickleball in Zambia.
Through regular exposure to coaching, competition and practical experience, the young participants are expected to become ambassadors of the sport within their schools, communities and sporting circles. The long-term vision is to see the sport grow beyond the training sessions at OYDC Zambia and establish a strong and sustainable presence across the country.

As the programme continues, the focus will be on expanding participation and encouraging more young athletes to embrace pickleball. The ultimate goal is to develop a pool of skilled and passionate Zambian players who will eventually take charge of promoting, playing and developing the sport for future generations.
With young athletes taking their first steps on the pickleball court at OYDC Zambia, the foundations are being laid for what could become a new and exciting chapter in Zambia’s sporting story.
